Your Visit, Step by Step
From booking to aftercare, here’s how we make your visit straightforward.
What to Expect on Your First Visit
Your first visit is about getting to know you, understanding your concerns, and giving you a clear picture of your oral health.
We recommend arriving 10 minutes early so there’s time to check details and settle in without feeling rushed. If you’ve completed your forms online, this will usually be a quick check-in.
Your appointment typically includes:
A discussion about your dental history, concerns and goals
A thorough examination by your dentist
X-rays if required
A professional clean, where appropriate
Clear explanations and recommendations, with time to ask questions
Most first appointments run for around 45–60 minutes, depending on your needs.
There’s no pressure to proceed with treatment on the day. Our focus is on giving you the information you need to make informed decisions, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
What do I need to bring?
A little preparation helps your appointment run smoothly.
Please bring:
A valid form of photo ID
Your health fund card (if you have one)
Medicare card, if applicable
If you’ve been treated elsewhere recently, any relevant records or X-rays can also be helpful.
To save time on the day, we recommend completing your patient forms online before you arrive. If you haven’t, no problem, our team can assist you when you check in.
If you’re feeling anxious, have specific concerns, or have any medical conditions we should be aware of, let us know ahead of time. This helps us tailor your appointment and ensure you’re comfortable from the moment you arrive.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to allow time for check-in and paperwork, especially for first visits.
If you need to reschedule or have questions before your appointment, our team is always happy to help.
During Your Appointment
Your appointment is unhurried and centred on clear communication.
Your dentist will talk you through what they’re seeing as they go, explaining findings in plain language and checking in with you along the way. If anything needs attention, you’ll be shown and talked through the options so you can understand the why, not just the what.
If treatment is recommended, you’ll be given:
A clear explanation of the proposed care
Any alternatives worth considering
Expected timelines and next steps
Nothing proceeds without your consent, and there’s always space to pause, ask questions or take time to think things through.
Our aim is that you leave your appointment informed and confident, with a clear understanding of your oral health and what comes next, even if that next step is simply monitoring.
Aftercare and Follow-Up
Your care continues after your appointment.
If you’ve had treatment, your dentist will explain any aftercare instructions clearly, including what to expect as you recover and how to care for your teeth at home. Where helpful, written guidance will be provided so you don’t need to remember everything discussed on the day.
If follow-up care is recommended, our team will help coordinate next steps, whether that’s booking a future appointment, monitoring an area over time, or referring you for additional treatment if required.
If you experience discomfort, have questions, or feel unsure about anything after your visit, you’re encouraged to contact the clinic. Our team is available to provide advice and ensure you feel supported between appointments.
Our aim is simple: consistent care, clear communication, and peace of mind once you leave the chair.

How do I know if my health fund is covered?
All major funds are supported—bring your card for instant claim; preferred provider benefits may apply at specific clinics.
What is CDBS?
It’s a Medicare program bulk-billing eligible kids 2-17, up to $1095 total per child for dental care every two years.
What government help exists for seniors?
Pensioners and eligible seniors access discounts, bulk-billing, and gap reduction; call your clinic for full details by suburb.
Can I pay with my super?
Yes, in some severe clinical cases with full ATO and superfund approval. We assist every step—note that routine and cosmetic work is never covered.
What do I need to bring?
Health fund card, Medicare card for kids, pension/healthcare card for discounts, and your completed new patient form (if first visit).
How much will I get back from my health fund for the treatment?
This is dependent on which health fund you are with and also the level of cover you are on. At the end of your appointment, your dentist will provide you with a treatment plan, which will include a list of item numbers. An item number is a 3-digit code that you will need to quote to your health fund. Following this, your fund will be able to tell you exactly how much you are covered for.
What is the difference between General and Major Dental treatment?

- Mouth guards
Major dental can include
- Crowns and bridgework
